Défi apprenti génie : a first concrete experience of science

In the greater metropolitan area, more than 320 primary school students participate in the Défi apprenti génie every year. It’s a great opportunity for young people to be in a concrete learning situation. Students apply the concepts discovered in class and demonstrate resourcefulness and creativity in creating their prototypes. Find out about the challenge and how to register.

What is it about ?

This is a free SAÉ that school staff can complete in class. The students, solo, duo or trio, imagine and create a prototype to accomplish a mission. They then enter a competition to present their creations.

Each year the challenge is different according to a cyclical calendar of 6 technological challenges. The challenge is offered to students with difficulty levels adapted to their cycle. This learning and assessment situation is adapted to the school curriculum as part of the Quebec School Training Program. It develops students' critical thinking, values their know-how and promotes collaboration. You can integrate the completion of the apprentice genius challenge directly into your classes.
